A quad on the fabrication table at the Mechanical Concepts shop in Southern Oregon

The house shock line · Mechanical Concepts

Rimrock
by Mechanical Concepts

The quad shock built by the shop that rides the rock it’s named after.

Rimrock is the basalt ledge that caps the high desert we ride — and the rock that breaks shocks in Southern Oregon. Three tiers, one per level of adjustability. Every set built one at a time by Mike Davis.

The line

Three shocks. The number is how much you can adjust.

Not sizes, not trim levels — the number tells you how far you can tune the shock. Pick by how you ride, then call the shop and we’ll confirm it fits your quad.

Entry

Twin-tube. Trail and utility riding — the shock for the rider who wants a real set under the quad without paying for adjusters they’ll never turn.

Specs on this page are held open on purpose. Nothing goes on a RIMROCK spec sheet until Mike has measured it on the bench — travel, adjuster count, spring rates and fitment all come from him, not from a catalog.

Built in Southern Oregon

We ride the rock it’s named after.

RIMROCK isn’t a badge we put on somebody else’s shock. It’s designed, machined, assembled and tested here — by the same hands that build custom A-arms, swingarms and chassis for racers who show up at our door.

  • 01
Designed on CAD, cut on our CNC

Bodies and hardware are drawn in-house and cut here, so a change a racer asks for on Friday can be in a shock by the next build.

  • 02
Assembled one set at a time

No production line. Every set is built, charged and checked by hand — and matched to the quad it’s going on.

  • 03
Tested on the terrain it’s named for

The high-desert rimrock outside the shop is the proving ground. If it can’t take that ledge, it doesn’t get the name.

  • 04
Serviced by the people who built it

Rebuilds, revalves and setup changes come back to the same bench. You’re not shipping a shock to a stranger.

Built to your quad

There is no fitment list. There’s your quad.

Every RIMROCK set is built from scratch and fitted to the machine and the rider it’s going under — eye-to-eye length, mount style, spring rate and valving all come off your numbers, not a catalog. That’s why you won’t find a make/model grid on this page. Tell Mike what you ride and how hard, and he builds to it.

How a build starts

  • 01
    You send the numbers

Make, model, year, discipline, rider weight and what’s on the quad now.

  • 02
    Mike calls you back

Usually same day. He’ll ask about arms, travel and where you ride — that’s what sets the length.

  • 03
    The set gets built

Machined, assembled, charged and set to your weight before it ships or goes on the quad here.

☏ Call the shop — ask Mike

Running custom A-arms or a stretched chassis? Say so in the notes — it changes the length before anything else does.

Build intake

Tell us the quad and the rider.

Arms, travel, wheels and tires, and what shocks are on it today.

Optional. The build details above get sent with it.

No mailing list. Mike or Crystal reads it.

RIMROCK is our own line, built to order for quads. If a factory replacement is the right call instead, we source OEM shocks for the major makes. Bilstein Black Hawk is a separate line we’re an authorized dealer for — UTV only.
