Mechanical Concepts is run by Mike Davis — a hands-on fabricator who races. Suspension geometry, custom A-arms, custom swingarms, full hybrid race builds. We engineer for the actual problems racers face on the line, not what a marketing team decided racers want.
We're not a parts catalog. Components are designed, cut, welded, and tested in our shop in Southern Oregon. CNC where it matters, TIG by certified hands, sheet metal fitted by feel when feel is what the part needs.

A feature on our hand-built CRF450R/TRX desert weapon. A 2023 Honda CRF450R engine in a heavily reinforced 2005 TRX450R chassis. ~12" front travel, low-feedback design, hand-fabricated aluminum tank, carbon fiber skid plate, dual thermal cooling. Tested by pro racer Jason Zittel in 114-degree Nevada desert.

Every component is custom-fabricated to your setup. Most-requested: A-arms.
Geometry-optimized, CNC-cut, TIG-welded chromoly. Extended or stock-length.
Hybrid quads. Different engine, different chassis, custom geometry, made to work.
Shock rebuild, re-valve, spring rate optimization, dyno-tested.
Reinforcement, full custom chassis, extended swingarms for drag and long-travel.
Geometry-corrected for lifts and modifications. Heim joints standard for race builds.
Component support, technical consultation, sponsorship for proven racers.
If you can describe it, we can probably build it. One-off projects welcome.
With the stock swingarm I couldn't really push too hard or the rear end would get loose and unpredictable. Now I can push the rear end a lot harder. The only change I made is the swingarm.
I'm over 50 hours in on it now and not one issue.

From desert racing to weekend warriors—we've got you covered
Desert racers have enough to worry about, and their chassis setup should not be one of them. Mec Con was born in the desert, and we know how important rock-solid and reliable setups are for finishing and winning races.
Cross Country racers need precise handling that doesn’t fade over the course of a race. The ability to carve between trees while the chassis remains planted for maximum traction is essential.
Going fast and smooth in the dunes is just about the most fun you can have on four wheels. Duners also want to look good while staying ahead of their riding buddies. Whether it’s drag racing or just hauling ass from point to point, we have your advantage covered.
Low, wide, fast and ready to take big hits. That’s what wins MX races on today’s tracks. Racing (and winning) a season of MX is no easy task, and the last thing you want to worry about is repairing or constantly servicing inferior components.
Perhaps one of the ultimate all-around tests of what a machine can do, WORCS racers need durability, protection and precision, and they like to look good while doing it! .
Even if you don’t race, but want to be the fastest guy at the riding spot with the best-looking machine, Mec Con has you covered.
Wheelbase, track width, A-arm angles, camber gain — the blueprint underneath every other component.
The most-requested product, broken down. Why over-built isn't better — and what optimization actually means.
Phase-by-phase upgrade priority, realistic budgets ($8K–$30K+), what podium-level actually requires.
Innovation & Behind The Scenes: See how your components are built using CNC cutting, high grade materials, TIG welded fabrication, and rigorous test and design methods. We specialize in round tube and sheet metal CAD design.
